Can’t recall where S5 ended but, I think, S6 starts around early October 1987:

Nerds II is showing  
The Pick Up Artist is showing  
Wall Street is coming soon

Thanks. I remember hearing/being told that Season 6 started in mid/late 1987, but I couldn’t remember when Season 5 ended.

Not the way I remember it. Yes, they were the Reagan years, but there were plenty of people who were against US policy and they were very active. I was constantly being asked to sign petitions against increased military spending, SDI, stationing IRBMs in Europe, supporting Contras in Central America, and so on.
