That whole post was wrong. What I meant to say was, I went to the OB today and Iā€™m already one centimeter dilated. So it is really any day now. I just have to get through the 9th because that is the day Iā€™m giving a training at work. If I did go into labor during the training that would certainly make it very memorable ---

Anyone who says to a woman in her last month, ā€œOh, ha ha, you should be glad youā€™re not an elephant because theyā€™re pregnant for a year and a half!ā€ deserves to be sat on by the pregnant lady. And maybe subjected to the pregnant lady gas, which I notice the rest of you were too polite to mention. ---

Contractions started late on a Monday night. Tuesday morning I was supposed to be in class testing out on some sharps skills. **Silver Fire** , that reminds me of my first labor. I was (too) young at the time, 16 years old, and I was taking some final exams at school. I noticed my contractions were coming every six minutes exactly, but I REALLY wanted to finish the test so I wouldnā€™t have to retake it. After the test, I went to the nurseā€™s office and she was mad! She couldnā€™t believe that Iā€™d sit in class, in laborā€¦ **AprilR** , just wanted to let you know that my sister was at 1 cm for 3 weeks. šŸ˜ƒ Also as Iā€™m typing this, my baby is kicking my bladder, just to remind me sheā€™s there. (I say she because thatā€™s what I want, but we donā€™t know for sure.) This will be my last pregnancy and has been very easy so far. I think I deserve it for what I went through with the last one. Having gallbladder surgery at 20 weeks, developing erythema nodosum on my legs and towards the end, one of the most amazing PUPPP rashes my doc had ever seen! This time around, I havenā€™t even gained any weight yet! ---

My wife is feeling the same way right now. This pregnancy has been MUCH harder on her than our first one. Sheā€™s got 5 weeks to go, and her ankles and feet are so swollen that she looks like sheā€™s wearing one of Tom Dempseyā€™s kicker boots. Her hands are swollen to the point where she canā€™t bend her fingers and sheā€™s now getting migraines. Sheā€™s been heavily tested for preeclampsia, and so far is good in that area, thank goodness, but it doesnā€™t make the discomfort any less. On the minor side, my son also seems to really like acrobatics and kicking, and just pummels her from the insideā€¦way worse than my daughter was (who moved and kicked of course, but not with this kind of power and level of activity). Sheā€™s going to start pulling for labor to start as soon as she hits 37 weeks and is officially ā€˜full term.ā€™ ---

IANAD, YMMV. ---
