Well, rather than clutter up the Springfield meeting thread, I’ll start a new one. DavidB and I were, unfortunately, _sans_ rastahomie for lunch this afternoon. We made plans to eat at one of the lead runners for Springfield’s Greasiest Spoon, Ritz’s Li’l Fryer. (Yeah, can’t ya just _hear_ the arteries harden?) Rasta was gracious enough to stop in and tell us his lunch plans had changed, so David and I managed to tie Sani and Michelle for the smallest Doper meeting. Here’s who we discussed: C #3/CheifLaff/K.O. Melin MajorMD LeftBehinders Phaedrus FORMERAGENT/MadeMann/TheFinder/MikeyLikesIT Falcon Aura Gaudere Opal and various others… We also discovered that we had met before, and had a common hobby. The advantages of certain hotels for the Feb. meeting were also discussed, as were some of David’s trials as a moderator. We also talked a bit about the problems involved in meeting people about whose appearance you have no clue, and the failed attempt at a St. Louis meeting (so I guess we should add JString and TomTaylor to the list above as well.) David, I’ll let you know when I clean out my home box. 2600+ messages on a 14.4 will take a bit. All told, an enjoyable lunch. Rasta wanted to make plans to do it again next Friday, but I realized on the way back that I’ll be in Chicago that day, and can’t make it. If you have time to do it again, either earlier or later, rasta, let us know; my Chicago trek will be next Thursday and Friday, so any day but those is probably ok. And we may want to check into another eatery; Ritz’s is a little too smoky for David and I. And unless we’re drunk and it’s three a.m., Mr. Ted’s is out of the question. * * * He weathered a firestorm of agony and did not break. Yeah, and didn’t Rubes and Canthearya have a lunch at some point? I’d also bring up the several meetings between me and Satan, but somehow I don’t think they count. ---

**BurnMeUp** and I were the sole attendees at the Puget Sound Straight Dopers gathering. The worst part was that we had reserved a table for eight in a crowded restaurant. The maitre’d was polite at first but less and less so as the evening continued. ## My fear, of course, is that the others came in and saw us and then left! Just kidding! (I hope!) Geez, I didn’t know you were taking notes! 😉 Or were you hiding a tape recorder under the cheese? A while ago, people were trying to guess what others looked like. Somebody here guessed that I look like Robert Redford. Having met me, Flypsyde (ok, re-met me), wouldn’t you agree? My schedule is fairly open next week and, at least for now, the week after. It’s not that I meant to exclude ya, but the other meetings slipped my mind. And absolutely no apologies for Satan and Drain.
