Well, shit. I forget to login and what do I see? John “Distinction without a difference” Mace tells us his own hilarious view on things. John “Nitpick One Point In A Dozen” Mace tells all you fools what he really meant in case the last year and a half of garbage he’s spewed meant most regular readers couldn’t have gotten from their John Mace I’m Not Defending Bush, But…™(C)(R) software*.

Fuck you, you moron. Show me one post where I’ve ever said it was a good idea to invade Iraq. You can’t, because there isn’t one. OTOH, there have been hundreds of posts by dozens of posters who have, either deliberately or innocently, misrepresented Bush’s position on any number of issues. So, let me just summarize for you: Fuck you, you moron.
Not to presume, John, but I kinda understand where the confusion derives. You tend to agree on certain issues with us leftish in tones of a rebuke, concurrence sounds like a Batman style beat down…
I agree entirely! (POW!)
Just so! Well said!** (SMACK! ZOWIE!)**
Its like a guy gives you a congratulatory punch in the arm but he’s got a rock in his fist.

Got an idea about that, Asknott. Take the House back (Step 1). Form a modern version of the WWII Truman Committees to ruthlessly investigate war profiteering. With a fine tooth comb. Might be necessary to unleash our crack squads of Marxist MBA’s…
Find any graft, any corruption…make 'em give it back, plus interest. Place the degree of financial penalty directly commensurate with money realized, that is, a CEO or Board member is responsible in proportion to thier compensation. And if it costs them everything they made plus interest, if there next meeting consist of asking if you want fries with that… so much the better.
We know that the civic virtue of most corporados requires that they support the Republican side of things. Stern duty demands. But perhaps with these sorts of considerations, they will be a little less inclined to think of the War Wagon as the Gravy Train.

I would probably support the death penalty for large scale political corruption and for corporate executives who commit a sufficiently large fraud on the public. I don’t know if the death penalty would be a deterrent to violent crimes of passion committed by despereate men but I am pretty sure that it would be a deterrent to well educated men who have everything to lose.

I’m not talking about the general situation, I’m talking specifically about our presence vis-a-vis the strength and capability of the ISF.

Then talk about it already. How fast are the Iraqis “standing up” so that “we can stand down”? What’s that? They aren’t? Things are turning to shit instead? Well, then, what is to be done next?
That is where most of the rest of us are on this topic. Do try to catch up. And, despite your obvious love of argumentation for the sake of argumentation, stop trolling.

suppose this government becomes a tool of the Shia majority?

That would be democracy, wouldn’t it? At least for the moment, before the mullahs impose sharia.
