What **can** emphatically be said is that Bush and other high-level Republicans feel no need to disassociate themselves from nutcases like these. There’s a whole pack of commentators on the right who delight in demanding that Dem politicians disassociate themselves from the likes of Michael Moore, Al Sharpton, etc. They’re awfully quiet when people like Jerry Falwell or this guy get invited to the White House. ---

Its a subtle distinction, but telling. The Bushiviks don’t _promote_ an anti-gay agenda so much as _exploit_ it. They pay just enough lip service (ha! snarky innuendo gleefully intentional…) to get anti-gay voters on their side, but not enough to offend the moderates. They’ve been getting away with this for years. Pressed on it, Bush won’t ever admit to being “anti-gay”, he is concerned with protecting the “sanctity of marriage”, whatever the Hell that is. ---
