It’s amazing that the irony of the moment didn’t choke him into silence. These are, after all, the very same OB/GYN’s that he’d love to have arrested for murder for performing abortions… how rare, to perfect the art of being frightening and hilarious at the same moment.

Okay, that was a silly way of misspeaking. What was truly frightening is that he apparently is blaming the whole mess of the economy on trial lawyers! Yes, it’s trial lawyers that have crushed the American economy. Not record deficits or jobs lost to overseas competition. Not that this could possibly be the first stage of the attack on
John Edwards, oh no. When we said we wanted transparency in government apparently they missed the point.

Don’t worry, **Shib**. November’s still a long way off.

Bush will have plenty of blame to spread around… lawyers, they’re just the flavor of the week.

I know this isn’t GD, so I’ll behave myself…but I don’t think OB/GYNs are leaving the business because of lack of jobs. It’s just the opposite: there are plenty of jobs for qualified docs. OB/GYNs in particular are quitting the biz because they can’t afford their malpractice insurance and premiums are exorbitantly high because lawyers have been over-eager to take doctors to trial. So, his statement, though amusingly botched, is accurate.

As for the OP: As ever, our esteemed president is a total :wally

What was he trying to say? I can usually parse it out (I even understood Cheney’s memorable babble about what we do and don’t know), but in this case I am stuck.

I thought “practicing their love” was how someof them got out of the business, involuntarily, that is.
