I agree that soft pretzels are best with spicy yellow horseradish mustard. But if they’re really soft, a creamy honey mustard is also excellent. And, in life, ketchup should only be used for 3 things: 1) a dip for french fries, 2) an ingredient in Russian dressing and 3) fake blood. ---

The best are the hard pretzels with the mustard soaked in and dried. Yum. ---

Yes, but only the large, soft, hot pretzels you buy from street vendors in Boston. I can’t imagine dunking the little hard pretzels that come in bags into mustard. Barry ---

Pretzels and mustard? Absolutely, but with a qualifier: It CANNOT be yellow mustard. Yellow mustard as anything but an ingredient in egg salad is an abomination in the face of all gods. It’s nasty and vile. However, just about any brown mustard, particularly with horseradish in the mix, is a joy and quite nearly a requirement for true pretzel enjoyment. ---

Oh, nummy nummy nummy! Actually, I like them best soft, with yellow mustard. …but hell, what do I know? My 2nd favorite pretzel treat is cheap salted ones dipped in chocolate brownie ice cream. Good stuff. ---

Oh you **must** have yellow mustard on your hot, soft pretzel. To not do so is a crime! Brown mustard is for hot dogs and other pig-snout byproducts. ---

Big, soft, doughy pretzels served warm: Definitely with mustard. Small, crunchy salty pretzels: Ewww, no, never mustard. Eat plain or with cheese. ---

We have a great German restaurant here in town ( [The Rathskeller](http://www.rathskeller.com/default.htm)), and the bread they give you on your table is all dark ryes, pumpernickels (sp?) and bits of pretzel, warm and soft. They serve it with at least TWO kinds of mustard (yellow and brown) for your snacking enjoyment during your meal.
