Prison executions : Who knew they were so expensive?

Cruel and unusual punishment. But funny.

Well, I’d be pretty embarrassed about being executed if it were me.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And when we have sex, we’re having sex with everyone else our partner has ever slept with. We know all of those already.

Well, yeah, kinda. If you have moral objections to killing animals, then you shouldn’t eat meat, even if it was killed by someone else. That is what the complaint is with capital punishment: if you are morally against murder, then you should be morally against capital punishment.

However, I’d say the real issue is that they aren’t the same thing. You can be against murder in general but be for killing of people who have been proven to have committed certain crimes. If you would kill to protect yourself, then it can be argued that killing someone to protect society is also acceptable (especially if other ways to protect society are considered less humane than a quick, painless death).

That’s not to say I do. All I will say is that a certain election has made me reconsider my opinion on the death penalty. Essentially, I’m not sure that the KKK shouldn’t have been hanged.

That’s the trouble with humor today. The far superior Looney Toons have been replaced by tepid Disney slop.

But that should be another thread.

If you support jailing crooks, are you an opportunity away from being a kidnapper?

Each cell should be equipped with a hangman’s’ noose. Let the inmate decide. They are also reusable so there is a savings compared to the chair or lethal injection.

Sometimes; sometimes it just paralyzes the subject so they can’t writhe in pain.

Also note that since no one competent wants to be the executioner, they basically aren’t ever performed correctly.

Capital cases are universally shoddily done, with poor or no evidence, incompetent defense lawyers and blatantly biased judges. There’s so many appeals because such trials produce a vast amount of material for them. It’s hard to argue that somebody got a fair trial when their defense attorney sleeps through it, or when someone else is known to have been the actual killer.

Obviously, anyone who thinks cold-hearted murderers deserve to live out their lives on the taxpayer’s dime is a moral degenerate.

I agree that there are murderers that should be executed, but because of the malice, prejudice, and plain incompetence in the justice system, the death penalty is unworkable. There is too much of a chance someone innocent will die.

In Illinois, DNA testing exonerated eleven people on death row.

That fact changed my support of capital punishment.

But I’m still glad Gacy got his.
