I thought of this today when I dropped the soap in my shower. Is there really as much anal sex/rape going on in prisons as we all joke about? ---

According to [this](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=150626) thread, there is a fair amount of coerced sex, but probably not so much flat-out rape as people seem to expect. ---

try reading a 70’s book by Susan Brown Miller, 'Men, women & rape" She writes just about any aspect of rape. ---

**jar** , why don’t you give **billy** the link to the thread discussing how to some the subject of prison rape isn’t that humorous. I thought it was very informative and it made one aware that other opinions do indeed exist on the matter. ---

**Jar** , rape is _always_ a barrel of laughs when it happens to a _man_. Same goes for invasive body-cavity searches. I’m still not sure why this magic rule doesn’t apply to murder and terminal-disease, but it just _is._ I think this used to be true for nuns, too. ---
