# Problem with self-installing hardware.

I’m trying to update to the latest nvidia display drivers for my video card.
What I usually do is uninstall the old drivers, restart my PC, and install the new ones.
Usually my comp would detect the hardware and ASK ME wether to reinstall the old drivers. I said no, and went ahead and installed the new ones. Worked flawlessly.
But for some reason now my comp is NOT asking me. As soon as it boots up the new hardware wizard begins working on the background (you can see it on the taskbar) installing the old drivers.
When I install the new drivers I end up with an unstable mix of different driver version runnign the hardware.
How can I make my computer ask me wether or not install a device, instead o finstalling it regardless at boot up?

Check [here](http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?threadid=67799) for instructions on how to blow away all your nVidia drivers and start fresh. I’ve done it and it works well.

I just realized I didn’t really answer your direct question. I don’t know the answer, but my computer does the exact same thing.
