No, it’s not absolutely required, though it is part of my job to respond to queries in ATMB, especially regarding policy in GQ, which is what you were asking about. The other GQ mods may participate if they are so inclined, especially if they can offer additional perspective.

Sorry - it was probably another mod (Czarcasm?) a few weeks ago. Seemed disingenuous at the time, but if you guys have a “team leader” of sorts that is required to respond for every ATMB question for each forum, then I’m absolutely incorrect there. Other than that, thanks for your responses. I didn’t think there was going to be anything more specific other than “significant use of the ‘New Thread’ button”, which makes sense.

We don’t have a “team leader” for each forum for general queries about board policy. None of us is absolutely required as individuals to respond to queries; however, as I said above it’s basically part of the job to answer questions posters might have about policy. Any mod may offer their perspective on the question; there isn’t any designated point person.

I’ve looked at the questions he’s posted in GQ, and I think most of them are interesting questions. It’s odd – and perhaps a little out of the character for this board – to pose a question and not participate in any of the conversation it generates. But I don’t think it’s necessarily inappropriate. He’s not ignoring questions or requests for more info. I don’t see the problem here.

I’d contrast this with some other prolific posters, whose GQ thread starters are often inflammatory or not really actual questions. I’m thinking of a couple who pose questions and then engage in tangential arguments with folks who participate in the thread.

But I don;t think five new threads in a day, or seven over a few days, is a cause for alarm.

No, but since I already did the vanity search:

1. There is a limit.
2. It’s not numeric.
3. We appreciate it when people report patterns of behavior like this. If a poster is drawing thread reports about a pattern of behavior, we’ll discuss the reports and watch the poster, even if we don’t think they’ve crossed the line yet. So we’re aware of the behavior, but it’s not necessarily because we think the poster has broken the rules.
