One of my favorite DJs in New Mexico started pronouncing Dillards as “dee-yards” because he was so used to pronouncing the Spanish ‘ll’ as ‘y’ (you know, as in ‘tortilla’?). Kinda caught on for a while. ---

Eat ‘n’ Park = Eat ‘n’ Puke Burger King = Burger Thing Hardees = Hardly’s, Hard on’s Jack in the Box = Jerk in the Box Giant Eagle (supermarket) = Big Bird US Airways = US Scareways (formerly Allegheny Airlines, or Agony Air) Air France = Air Chance Back in the days before Texas International airlines was scarfed up by Continental, we called it Texas Intergalactic. ---
