The Sandy Alomar that played with Roberto was his brother. Sandy Alomar Sr. retired about ten years before Roberto made it in the big leagues.
Just bumping this to note that Federer is, as I type this, serving in a championship match at the Swiss Indoors against Alex de Minaur (who, being all of twenty, was born days after Federer played in the 1999 Australian Open).
Damn!
Federer lost in the qualifying round to Olivier Delaître.
Federer’s first ever appearance in the main event of a GS Tournament was in that years French Open.
I wouldn’t call professional wrestlers “professional athletes.” I consider them to be the same as stuntmen, and I don’t consider stuntmen to be athletes.
For me, the word “athlete” implies that you compete against other people. While wrestlers and stuntmen perform amazing physical feats, they don’t compete against anyone athletically.
