Sure, some employers and business people always wail and gnash their teeth every time talk of raising it comes around. They say it’ll destroy their business, that they’ll have to lay people off.
But they have not ever been able to statistically prove their point to be correct.

Here’s the deal. Capitalism, like Darwinism, is survival of the fittest. A minimum wage is just part of the playing field. It isn’t a handicap on anyone. If you cannot compete because the minimum wage rises, or because new health regulations are put in place, or because you’re legally required to be less of a scumbag to your employees, then someone else will take your place. I have zero fucks and zero sympathy to give if you in particular own a business and want to publicly wail about how it’ll destroy you. Good. You’re a bad businessman and someone better will move into the market position that you vacated by your incompetence.
