It get seven stranger if you look them up in the [Census Bureau](http://factfinder.census.gov/servlet/SAFFFacts?_event=Search&geo_id=&_geoContext=&_street=&_county=10165&_cityTown=10165&_state=&_zip=10165&_lang=en&_sse=on&pctxt=fph&pgsl=010&show_2003_tab=&redirect=Y) site.

The population is 7 but there are 11 foreign born, 3 rental housing units, 16 speak a language other than English at home.

Ah, none employed and 16 enrolled in school… a very small dorm for foreign students? Not all with local residency?

Or maybe just a fuckup in the database?

Holy shit, Oakland is 27.5% with less than a ninth grade education. I knew it wasn’t the most economically hopping place in the world, but I never knew it was so bad.

Seriously, though, in my zip code (48,880) only 38% speak English at home.

I compared my college town with my old zipcode from home. It showed more poverty in the college town, I wonder if students not making any money (like me) skewed it. Obviously, the education stats were the most glaring.

Lessee… 79% have an education level of high school or higher, 29% have bachelors or higher. Median income is $43k and change. 41% never married… huh, that seems high to me.

19% white, 73% black, 2% Asian. Average age is 40, and it is 45/55 in favor of the ladies.

10% unemployment, 14.7% below the poverty line.

70.5% white  
35.8% age 20-29 / 23.6% age 30-39  
59.4% bachelors degree or higher  
56.1% never married  
61.0% work in management or professional jobs / 25.9% in sales or office jobs  
28.3% make over $100,000 (median $62,550)

so basically everyone in town is more or less just like me

I totally guessed wrong at what this thread would be about. I thought it would be tongue-in-cheek profiling digs at one’s neighbors along the lines of “people from my neighborhood look like they should be pulled out of the airport line for random security checks, but luckily they all travel exclusively by pick-up truck”. Or something.

If that had been the case, I would said: When you come to my neighborhood, you’ll be tempted to run over the kids playing in the middle of our busy streets at rush hour… but you’d be wise not to since all of the parents appear to be in the Russian mafia.
