Safe? When did it EVER come down to safe? I’m sure that Gretchen isn’t actually as much as a bitch as she was edited, but Mondo is a WAY better designer. ---

Didn’t they decide NOT to give the title to Emilio Sosa a few seasons ago because he presented a collection that was ready-to-wear, not runway?!? ---

Actually, what frightened me the most was that Heidi Klum and Jessica Simpson appeared to be the voices of reason in that judging session…never thought I’d see the day. ---

I’m completely done with this show. I can’t believe Nina and Michael were acting like they warned Mondo again and again to tone it down after they gave him win after win throughout the season. By this time next year, nobody is even going to remember who Gretchen is, and Mondo’s dresses will be worn on the red carpet. ---

I think the shock that Mondo lost is numbed by how shockingly awful Jessica Simpson looked. I cant get past it. What the hell happened to her? That’s not just weight gain!! She looked like her face was injected with the entire city of Los Angeles’ supply of Botox! ---

And that top or dress she wore did absolutely nothing for her shoulders :eek: As much as I wanted Mondo to win, I knew they’d pick Gretchen. My theories: 1. They needed another female winner. Leanne from Season 6 can’t stand there by herself, can she? No. 2. As much as I love Mondo’s work, he sort of “out there” in the way the winners of the last few years have been – I’m thinking Christian mostly. You know, their designs are over-the-top in some way. 3. Her clothes are _editorial_. Nina was correct on this one when she said that if she were a buyer, she’d look at Gretchen’s collection first because they’re the type of clothes most women would _buy_. Maybe not me nor you, but most women. I can see that. They’re not scary or fantasy, and the ease of them, I think, would translate into more women fitting into them. Plus there’s that earth-tone vibe going on – a lot of women don’t reach for Mondo’s color palette. Except me 🙂 4. That said, I did love the jewelery. 5. I think Andy got robbed – I really liked his collection. 6. This one’s for you, Michael C. :raises glass: ---

Like everyone else I was surprised that Gretchen won instead of Mondo. I mean, I like Gretchen’s clothes well enough, but 1. They all looked alike, and 2. They all looked like they came from the 70’s; So it made me laugh when Michael and Nina were talking about how Gretchen had her pulse on what’s hip now. A care-giver for my wife made the observation that Mondo could probably do just about anything (tone his work down or get even more flashy) whereas Gretchen seemed to reach her limit. At any rate, Mondo has a real future anyway. With the exposure he got I have no doubt other people or companies will step in to help his career.
