This is driving me insane. I’m using Windows 2000 and I accidently unchecked the box that says “always prompt me before I download” or something to that effect. Now when I click on anything other than links it automatically downloads the file and executes it :smack: . I’ve check tools\>Internet Options and I didn’t see it under there, I’ve tried checking the registry but I didn’t find any keys relevant to that. All I want to do is have the “Save” “Open” “Close” type prompt before when I click on files. Thanks for any help, I can’t believe it would be this hard to get this feature back 😕 .

If you go into Windows Explorer -\> Tools -\> Folder Options -\> File Types -\> Select the type of file (like .zip) -\> Advanced -\> Rechecked ‘Confirm Open After Download’.

It is very hard to find something to quickly fix this problem but you might try this. Go to My Computer\>Tools\>Folder Options\>File Types. Select a file type and then Advanced and see if the Confirm Open After Dowload Box is checked. I used the .zip file extension.
