The flower catalogs I buy from always tell me that the vine is a CLEM a tis but everyone I know calls it a clemATis. And whereas I tried to use the ‘proper’ pronunciation a few times I find that I no longer do so. Makes me feel a bit snobbish or something. ---

I tell people was born on the 2nd of Feb. As an aside, it’s seems it’s also common in conversation to shorten January to Jan (I’m going on holidays mid-Jan), but no other months. ---

But I’m not too sure if my memory is influenced by jargon usage in the financial markets in reference to futures contracts. ---
