Proof that anti-gravity devices exist!

“Oi ! Physics ! Sit down and SHUT UP, or I’ll slap the Newton right oughta ya !”

I like the part where he jumps down towards the camera, down the subway steps, then loads of pedestrians come into view to have a nosy if he’d killed himself or not.

I don’t get that persons comment above the video though? He’s ON a trials bike, and it wouldn’t matter if he got on a trials motorbike, and competed in events, it wouldn’t help the USA because Danny MacAskill is British.

Question about the bike. In some parts it appears that it free-wheels (e.g., he stops pedaling prior to some jumps), but in other parts he appears to be pedaling the bike backwards which would require it to be a fixed gear bike.

I’ve been boggled by that all day, and I know you can do it on some BMX’s too, I just don’t know how exactly.

That’s just astonishing - truly astonishing. Fun to play spot the location in Edinburgh too, I got most of them I think.

I thought this thread was going to show the naked pics of Miss California.

Anyone know who the band is?

“Band of Horses” according to the label in the video itself :smack:

On further reflection, I think it’s just a bog standard free-wheel set up. When you move a bicycle backwards the pedals rotate backwards as well. So when he’s going backwards he’s not pedaling backwards to make the bike move backwards, he’s pedaling backwards because if he didn’t the bike would stop.

I came in here to say that! Asked my mate Vince earlier and he said the same thing. Danny’s not pedaling backward in that video, the motion of the pedals is forcing him to move his feet or else the rear wheel locks up.

He has some really impressive skills.

I still wonder how they do it though, the bikes must be really light to be lifted like that, and how do the feet stay on the pedals when pulling the bike up? The feet don’t seem to be attached physically. Can somebody explain?

I bike daily (for transportation only), and there’s no way my bike can be pulled up in such ways.

it helps with balance to keep your feet moving when going backwards as well

Pshaw! Of course it’s pretty easy with two wheels.

I have no idea, I have seen these guys up close at bike shows. You would swear they have velcro on the bottom of their shoes and on the pedals.
That and some type of warp field generator that negates gravity.

Not sure about the bit on the fence at the beginning, but I think I got the rest if there’s any you’re curious about.
I walk past some of the spots most days; I think it was him I saw jump a traffic bollard last week in George Square.
There’s often guys shooting videos of themselves either on bikes or boards up at Bristo Square, where some of this was shot.
