I envy those of you who can buy propane on every street corner, and have the option of refills. I’ve got a choice of Home Depot-1, Home Depot-2, Home Depot-3, or a 40 minute drive hoping that the propane place is still in business. ---

Try an RV Supply place. Many of them have propane along with everything else. I’ve even found Coleman fuel at some of them. ---

Not many RV supply places in the middle of Queens. One of the few disadvantages of living in one of NYC’s outer boroughs. ---

She was the only one on duty, and it was more important to keep an eye on the pumps and the inside of the store. I just thought it was a little absurd that most stores act like the tank cage is a bank vault, and the Kwik-E-Mart let me face the mighty Blue Rhinos myself. :eek: ---

[/QUOTE] As someone mentioned upthread, the best place to try in the city might be a welding supply house, they often refill propane as well as oxygen and acetylene. ---

When I was a kid the guy who lived two doors down from us had gotten his tank refilled, and the employee who did it screwed up somehow, and the thing exploded in has back seat at a red light when he lit a cigarette. The firemen said it was a miracle he got out alive. They towed the car back to his house and I remember gawking at the burned-out hulk. My mom made me mow the guy’s lawn for free that summer because he couldn’t do it. Then about a year and a half later, when he got a huge settlement from the gas station, he took care of me and my buddy that had also helped, and mom was never the wiser. Needless to say, I never transport one of those tanks when I have my kids in the car. ---
