You can also fast forward and rewind using the skip forward and back controls - just hold your finger on the button and it winds slowly at first then increasingly fast. Of course, if you have twitchy fingers, it’s possible to accidentally skip to the next track.

At least, you can FFW and RW this way on ordinary tracks and video so I assume you can on podcasts - I never listen to podcasts.

Yes, the FF and REW touch thingys work for podcasts as well. It starts off at about 2x, then gradually speeds up to about 20x I think.

I’d like the seconds counter to be larger so I could see it while fast-forwarding without having to have my damn reading glasses (darn you presbyopia!).

I used to use a Palm with the Pocket Tunes app for listening to MP3s, and a cool feature it had was separate buttons that would skip forward or backward by 15s, 30s, 1m, 2m, and 5m. That was very useful, and I’d love to see the Touch implement something like that.
