Actually, Bricker, rape victims’ reactions to rape can be all over the charts. Some withdraw; some become promiscuous, some go out and ‘recliam’ their sexuality. Obviously, there’s lots of people like catsix, who think that no rape victim should take a course of action that they themselves wouldn’t. I’ll see if I can’t find a link, but I’m getting on a plane tomorrow, so it’ll be about a week.

Catsix, sweetie, you’re one of those radical people who make feminism necessary. I can just send people to you when they try and say that sexism no longer a factor. I don’t even know why I bother answering you; you don’t read one fucking thing.
Gawd, did you miss the part where hte defense attorney repeatedly said the vitim’s name aloud in open court?

> AFAIK, the defense has done their job in refuting the evidence presented to them, and calling into question the victim’s character, reputation, and actions before, during and after the alleged rape.

```
Once again, why is this done only with rape victims? Why not with mugging victims? No one attributes character flaws to mugging victims.
```

And this:

catsix does not like lying, opportunistic money grubbing twats because they make life harder not only for those they falsely accuse but for those who are not lying, opportunistic money grubbing twats.

Hence, the cunt I wish I could name here can eat my ass.

So, not punishing someone on the word of a liar is now sexism? You are blind, **margin** , and you always have been. Take your little Ms. Magazine bullshit and trot off to cry about the patriarchy and how evil it has been to you because _liars_ don’t get to win.

There’s no _victim_ idiot, because the occurance of a crime has not been proven. Her name should be fucking put on a billboard. No problem with damaging a man’s reputation, ruining his life, possibly destroying his career and his family on nothing but an unsubstantiated accusation, but you think it’s a travesty that the twat’s name was said in court? **It fucking well should be**.

Anyone here who wants to know what her name is can ask me. I’ll email it to you.

> While I agree that it’s possible for a legitimate rape victim to have consensual sex with someone else before reporting the rape, immediately after the rape, it is certainly not common in the annals of rape victimology.

And, more to the point, the sex after the rape and before the rape kit was taken seriously degrades the available evidence to support the rape charge. The rape may in fact have taken place, but the woman’s actions make it very difficult to PROVE in court.

Uh, catsix? Sweetie, seriously, who twisted your tampon? What the fuck is wrong with you? Did this girl kill your puppy or something? Whatever I think about Kobe Bryant, his statement today was one of the more reasonable things I’ve heard about the case. You? You’re frothing at the mouth.

I love the vengeful attitude toward the victim, though. Makes you look real good and reasonable. :wally

How did they find out about ‘the second shooter’? Did she tell investigators during interrogations? Why hide it knowing there is a chance it will come up at one time or another?

Not taking sides yet, just curious.

That’s all you can come up with? Holy fuck. We oughta take his bar card for that. Maybe even incarcerate him, instead of the good asswhooping he took from the judge for it.

That is so weak. Some lawyers have committed murder for their clients and you say this guy is “playing dirty” because he accidentally or purposefully mentioned the victim’s name in court?

Feh. Not impressed.

As I mentioned earlier, the rape kit indicated 2 semen samples. When processed, they were from different people. At least, that’s what news articles led me to believe.

So, she never willfully informed the investigators?

It’s looks like she lied…

> [@](#):
>
> At a closed-door hearing on June 21 and 22, DNA expert Elizabeth Johnson testified for the defense that the accuser’s sexual contact with Mr. X “likely occurred after [the accuser] and Mr. Bryant were together.” Johnson testified that no traces of Mr. X’s DNA were detected on the swabs taken from Bryant or the T-shirt he wore. Johnson said that had Mr. X’s sperm been on the accuser at the time of her encounter with Bryant, it should have shown up on Bryant.
>
> Based on the publicly released DNA evidence in the case, Ronald Singer, president of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and Alan Keel, a criminalist and DNA expert, both told SI that Johnson’s argument that Mr. X’s fluids were deposited on the woman after her encounter with Bryant raises serious questions.
>
> The accuser told investigators that she had sex about three days before meeting Bryant but no sex between that encounter and her exam. It has been reported that the DNA on the purple panties establishes that the accuser had sexual contact soon after her encounter with Bryant, but prosecutors have filed a document that says cotton cloth can retain semen even after it has been repeatedly “soaked or washed.”
>
> This does not explain sperm and semen on the swabs from the woman’s body, but SI has learned that besides being a small sample, the DNA from Mr. X consisted of only the portions of sperm that remain after it has degraded over time. “Generally, when degraded sperm is all you see, it means several days have gone by,” said Singer.

>
> “It is likely that there was not any sperm from Mr. X inside (the accuser) at the time Mr. Bryant had his encounter with her, and that sexual contact … likely occurred after (the accuser) and Mr. Bryant were together,” she said.
>
> Her depiction of the time frame is based on the assertion that semen from Mr. X was found in the woman’s underpants, on her legs and inside her vagina - along with that from Bryant - but Bryant had no traces of Mr. X on him.

What victim?

You’re **ass** uming she’s telling the gospel truth. Probably because you are a radical feminist and unable to believe that someone with the motivation of a few million dollars could lie about such a thing.

My understanding is [correct](http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,1413,36~28682~2379653,00.html). And the state will recover the money if she gets any from Bryant. The article in _The Denver Post_ also states that technically, since she would not testify, the state could attempt to recover the money, but will not bother unless she gets a settlement or judgement in her civil case.
