# Prostate Cancer

My Grandfather died from this about three years ago. But what exactly does the prostate gland do? And do women have one?

[According to this page,](http://www.prostatehealthdirectory.com/articles/what_prostate.html) the prostate surrounds the urethra, and produces about 25% of the seminal fluid used during ejaculation.

The female body doesn’t really have an equivalent.
