Protagonists that would be in a lot of Legal Trouble

Isn’t that the one where he’s holding the guy suspended off the bridge by the ankle to make him talk, and there’s the classic exchange afterwards:

Arnie’s friend: “What did you do with him?”
Arnie: “I let him go.”

ETA: here it is

Definitely part of the Arnie legend that inspired the Rainier Wolfcastle - McBain story.

You think at some point the Miami PD would have caught up with Michael Westen and crew consistently turning Miami into a war zone.

And while on the subject of spies, should Harry Tasker be using government resources to follow his wife around to see if she is cheating on him?

Right. Somehow my brain failed to register the word “protagonist” in the title.

But sticking with The Simpsons, Bart is at the very least getting charged with vandalism, if the Springfield P.D. ever figures out who that mysterious “El Barto” tag belongs to.

Bart’s prank calls to Moe might now be so egregious that they violate some statute. Homer’s autodialler certainly did, but I seem to recall that the illegality of that was part of the storyline.

Pretty sure Steve Sax is still serving time for that.

That’s been an on-going issue ever since TV came around. My grandmother mentioned a news story back in the '50s where a boy shot somebody, and expected everything to be alright, because he knew that the people on TV didn’t actually die when shot.

Marge Simpson. Illegal drug abuse, rape.

There’s a really dark episode The Strong Arms Of The Ma. Marge is mugged and traumatized - seriously, not just as a brief joke, she’s afraid to go outside. This prompts her to start lifting weights. This restores her self confidence, but she ends up abusing steroids and is shown physically coercing Homer into a “snuggle” when he clearly says no - more than once. It’s hard to see this as anything other than a portrayal of marital rape.
