Huh? Where is such an idea taught in a formal, structured environment?

I swear I can’t believe some of the garbage I’m reading here. What’s even sadder is people subscribe to such crap.

I believe we elected one. 😉
You know, to protest, I could e-mail **Steve Wright** a rather nice homemade version, custom written just for him. No. Excuse me. A grin the size of Rush Limbaugh’s ego has just broken out on my face. You see, even as I type, people I know are indulging in a weekend party in Chicago which usually includes a variation of MST3K done with porno movies! 😃 It’s also Samhain, and given my Wiccan friends attitudes toward sex, the action I’m envisioning could provide the gentlemen of this board with fantasy material for a long time to come (and come and come!).

Protection from Pornography? How about protection from idiocy? That’s even more common and pernicious. (I won’t mention which one I indulge in more.)

Man, protection from pornography week is almost over.

I feel so naked.

Maybe I should seek protection from myself …

But Matt, you live in Quebec. If you said whatever it is you want to say (eg: Eat at Joe’s) by putting a sign up in front of your business and only did it in English what would be the consequences of that act?

I must assume that you are serious in stating this, but if my head really could spin, it’d be levitating right now.

Talk about cementing gender sterotypes. You’re in fact saying that men (and it’s a wide brush you’re using) are only interested in finding some kind of cavity to rub their dicks in. We don’t give a shit about the person surrounding the cavity, and only care about our own ejaculation. Tenderness, companionship, friendship ASF do not enter the equation when a man seeks a partner for life. It’s all about _his_ orgasm, sports, drinking beer and leading an Al Bundy-esque life. Yeah, you nailed. You really know how men thinks.

There aren’t enough

in the world.

As for the OP - GWB is just blowing hot air, I’m sure. It’s not really an agenda, just playing to the gallery where the moral majority sits.

I agree that Bush probably isn’t personally het up to censor us all, but everything I’ve read about Ashcraft leads me to believe he is. And if the economy continues to tank and Iraq continues to be a problem, Bush might just be looking for a little pornography-flavored wool to pull over the eyes of the teevee idjits out there to get their vote even as he robs them blind and gets their kids killed for no good reason.

Bush would be an idiot to go after porn during a recession. Porn is what keeps people from killing other people during recessions.

You clamp down on porn during a boom, not during a bust.

To return to the subject of the OP if I may, whilst I don’t be believe that porn exploits women, or that it turns people into rapists etc, I do think there are some slightly more subtle ways in which some kinds of porn may be damaging.
[This](http://observer.guardian.co.uk/review/story/0,6903,925264,00.html) article deals with this subject very interestingly.
For example, a few points that I find quire compelling

> [@](#):
>
> Here is some evidence. Experiments were carried out on ‘normal’ men, not addicts, for research by Edward Donnerstein, a prominent academic and author. ‘On the first day,’ he reported, ‘when they see women being raped and aggressed against, it bothers them. By day five it does not bother them at all. In fact, they enjoy it.’ Before long they got the feeling that women were to blame for being raped, and actually quite liked it. Even porn which wasn’t violent made the men twice as likely to say they felt aggressive towards women.
>
> This is not to say that porn turns men into rapists; it doesn’t need to, for it trespasses on the mind more subtly. The evidence proves that porn invites its audience to view women differently - as inferiors, as objects, only good for sex. This is the problem with pornography; it alters the way men look at women. There is no ‘at risk’ profile because it affects everyone - and it even alters the way women look at themselves. Few women have truthfully never wondered, when they are in bed, whether a part of them might be impersonating the women they see in porn, who are impersonating women enjoying sex.

I think there may be some truth in these claims. Just look at the kind of language on many porn sites- calling women “sluts”, who are “drenched in cum”, or “forced” to “take big cocks”, etc, etc- it certainly makes me feel that there are lots of men out there that don’t like women very much.

I was never exposed to porn very much until I moved to Hungary, where they have hardcore porn for free after a certain time at night, as part of the standard cable package. I must say, I don’t quite know why men get off on this stuff- all those close up shots of very sore looking anuses and vaginas being penertrated by guys with big dicks, who often spit on the women to provide lubrication, and who are so obviously just going through the motions, without a hint of passion- that’s not really the essence of sex as far as I’m corncerned.

I think that’s bullshit, and they won’t prove it to me without locking me in a basement.

Upon seeing women raped I would become very outraged and disgusted with the ones who are committing the crime. I get the same response when a show like Cops depicts police pulling a car over and yelling at the driver. It’s the reason I don’t watch that show and, as an analogy, if you forced me to watch Cops for 5 days straight I’d be damn sick and tired of it.

As for the spitting, it’s common to use saliva as a lubricant.

> Interestingly, there was a giant foofaraw a year or two ago when the Supremes ruled that a fellow in B.C. had the right to make and own written and drawn child pornography (i.e. with no actual children involved); they reasoned that since he was creating it himself, it was an artistic work of sorts and was thus protected by free speech provisions. People went nuts, but as far as I know the decision is still in place._\*

Doesn’t anyone else find it strange that an old Motown band decides Canada’s laws?
