If **prr** had simply begun posting again, we would have been swamped with posters (or **Pit** threads) asking “how” and why he was back. Announcing the resolution publicly eliminated a lot of that trauma (and relegated the snide comments to this thread) and **Tris** was as good a choice to make the announcement it as **Lib** or **prr** would have been. ---

I’ve thought about resuming posting for the past few months, ever since \*\*Liberal \*\* proposed it to me, but didn’t care to stir up my fellow Dopers with the resulting and inevitable Pit threads. I decided this weekend to ask \*\*Tris \*\* and \*\*Liberal \*\* to do me the favor of stating pre-emptively their support for my resumption, and they kindly complied. And thank you, too, **Tris** , for subjecting yourself to criticism that otherwise would have come my way. You’re the last person who deserves a Pitting over this–blessed are the peace-makers. While the usual busybody suspects fretted and gnashed their teeth over the whole thing, raising as much of a shitstorm about it as they possibly could — _Oh, the humanity! How could someone be doing something I don’t approve of!_ — \*\*Tris \*\* stepped in to ask how he could help. And he was a faithful steward of his promises. He received the money, held onto it, and then released it to you when I told him to. You, to your credit, made good use of it. What you did with it could help make a difference in all our lives. You have grown and learned from the experience, knowing now that faith is not a choice but a result of life experience. [/QUOTE] So first you ask why I’m upset, and then you add that you will not let this happen again in the future. Thus proving that this event should have never taken place. This ‘event’ didn’t happen quickly. IIRC, it took at a week to work out the details. Personally I would have suspended the poster that made the offer to buy someone’s silence for at least a month, and handed out a warning to the poster who was willing to handle the transaction. Yes, it is a year later and yes I’m still disgusted at the ‘performance’ of the mods and admins. Time does not change the fact that they sat on their hands with the thumbs up their asses. The fact that this won’t happen again the future is proof that what they themselves know they handled that poorly. And Liberal, what you did was the ultimate ‘lowering of the tone’ of the boards and it was, to me at least, a huge violation of rule number 1. And this “Oh we kissed and made up, everyone should be happy and if they aren’t they are big poopy head” attitude shows how little you have grown. You insulted everyone on the board with that stunt. Some people didn’t care, some of us do care, but it was an insult just to the same to each and every person on the board.
