Just a couple of question. How many years of summer school did you goto? How many years of regular math did you skip?
Oh, and fyi, I’d be completly done with my school’s math program if I wasn’t so lazy and if the system would’ve allowed it. =)
Sigh, you’re right of course. I concede. Neither of us can tell what a normal 6 year old is thinking without basically slapping electrodes on the kid 24/7 and advancing our current brain physiology knowledge about 100 fold.
Hrm… speaking of which… has anyone read “Ender’s game”? If so, then you should know what I mean
If a six-year-old starts posting, I’m outa here!
Seriously, it’s possible to reconstruct the psychology of a child from one’s own memories of that period of time (remembering that they are imperfect, incomplete, and may possibly be fraudulently “edited” by one’s subconscious) and the child’s own responses to appropriate questions and such. The problem, as I noted earlier, lies in interpreting those results, and tends to have far too much read-into on the part of adults. You are familiar with the joke about the child that asks, “Where did I come from?”?
If I was not such a bum…
If they only would let me…
Sounds like a good, if not well used excuse.
I have never taken summer school, but I am anticipating to do so this summer. In seventh grade I took pre-algebra and algebra in eighth grade. I am taking Geometry S and Algebra 2 S/Trig this year. It took quite a struggle with my teachers and a quite a few letters of reconmendation, but Cherry Creek finally let me take Algebra 2 S/Trig concurrently with the prerequisite Geometry S. Over summer I intend to take Precalculus S; I am not aware if I can get credit or not. If I happen to completely fail in Precalculus S over the summer, I will instead take Precalc S next year instead of the summer, but I hope to avoid this. Luckily, my district will pay for tuition at a loocal college for just one class of mathematics so that precoscious students such as you and I can go beyond classes that could be feasably taught in a high school. If your district does not do something similar, try checking out local colleges and see if they will let you attend some of thier math classes.

Coulda woulda shoulda, story of my life. I am so lazy =)
Well, I skipped a year of regular math way way way back in the 3rd grade, but they made me repeat it because they didn’t want to make an exception for just 1 student. Public schools suck =)
Anyway, I never attended summer school for math either. I took pre-algebra in the 6th grade(Unoffically…our class completed the regular math in about 5 months). Algebra in 7th, Geometry in 8th, Algebra 2 in 9th, Math analysis(aka Trigonomtry + precalc)in the 10th and calculus ab(1) now.
As for those college courses i’d much rather attend one for science since I plan on retaking calculus for reinforcement in college anyway.
Just wondering… what’s that “S” stand for?
Hrm… maybe I’ll dust off those books and study for school for once… nah. Off to some quake or something…

The S’s, one of the greatest mysteries of all time in our counseling (course selection) office. No one has a clue in hell what it stands for. It simply means that it is an accelerated course and it is a weighted grade as far as GPA.
