Is anyone else dismayed by the fact that this reprehensible fucknut is claiming to have gone to “psychology school”? And I wonder where I fit in his scheme of the world. I suppose I too need to be tied up somewhere and shocked and raped because _I have no interest in sex._ With anyone. Ever. This doesn’t bother **me** in the least, but I bet it’s very disturbing to mister **puddleglum** and his fundamentalist brethren. ---

ain’t it the truth **stuffinb** (tho **puddles** wasn’t the one who tried to get to the point that ‘racial profiling is really in blacks best intersest since it will incarcerate more of those who are committing offenses’ :rolleyes: ) what’s scarey here, tho are these folks who keep on arguing that, for example, a poll is a scientific study of such worthiness that we should burn all prior assumptions and run with these ‘new’ ideas, or that even though their premises, examples, arguments have all been proved wrong, they’re still certain they are correct. Self delusion must be such a **comfortable** place. ---

I hadn’t said anything in the original thread, because the points were being made with far more style, substance, and wit than I had to offer, but I must point this out. **Dogsbody** , you totally rock AND you roll. The last person I saw with this much commitment to Truth and Justice was wearing spandex tights and a cape. I have to pitch in and congratulate everyone who contributed to that thread, with one notable and obvious exception. It’s awe-inspiring to see so many people allied against ignorance, trying to bring some enlightenment to a stubbornly deluded dogmatist. I’m proud to be a part of these boards, and the conduct in that thread was admirable. Whether we were able to change puddles’ mind or not, we’ve proven what we’re made of; reason, rationality, tolerance, humor, persistence, openness, and regard for our fellow humans. ---

Just to add my own $0.02 here, everyone, you did a rocking job. I have never seen anyone put their head in the sand so thoroughly has **Mr. Depressed Rainwater** did. My only hope now is that he’ll show this literary gem to any potential mates he might have. Hopefully they’ll either burst into hysterical laughter and say “you actually _BELIEVE_ that?” or look at him as he were a hooded cobra and quickly and quietly move away from him. **Jab1** , that’s a distinct possibility. There’s the old line; _Some of the worse homophobes are closet cases_. But with **Mr. Depressed Rainwater** it’s hard to say. Maybe he’s defending so single-mindedly is because it desparately wants it to be true. Hey, that might make a wonderful defense for when he comes back. Well, I just had the privilege of wading through pages 3 and 4 of the GD thread (it’s like kudzu, growing and growing), and I found myself wondering, seriously, whether he was pulling our communal leg, clinging to his point with such an unshakeable death grip. Nope, \*\* DDG\*\* sad to say, from ‘experiencing’ him in other threads, I have no doubt that he actually believes what he’s typing, and, what’s more, thinks he’s winning his point. I suggest you check out the racial profiling ones in particular - he’d drop in and quote some numbers from the FBI site re: # blacks who’d been convicted of violent crime, and assert that it ‘proved’ that blacks were more likely to commit crimes (despite the fact that violent crimes only account for a small percentage of reported crimes etc etc ). ---

Last night, as several people can attest, I was utterly freaking out. My friend should be all right. She’s in a city and her parents are more or less starting to see reason. It’s just a bit of a punch in the gut to have people say that you’re not a good enough Christian. Nobody is, but to say that I fail because of who I love and because I’m not trying… bah.
