I’m freaking aggravated as hell and I don’t know where to take it. Queue the rant in the Pit. I have an employee who is pissed she didn’t get a promotion. We’ve had multiple development meetings to get her to that point, but she told me point blank she’ll do just her job and only her job and nothing else. But she still expects a promotion. She also started taking days off with limited (like 1-2 days) to no notice on days meetings were planned around her weeks in advance, most of which have been with federal auditors. She’s human and I wanted to give her time to cool off. But it’s happened 3-4 times in a month already. Since I often back her up, I make sure she has all my out of office appointments on her calendar. Regardless, she did it again - at the same time I’m out of office for my mom’s transplant follow up (which has been on her calendar for a year - mom also has cancer, which is common in transplants; given the complexity of her conditions and how close we are to losing her, I don’t want her going to any appointments alone). Said employee wants to volunteer for her kids’ first day back at school, which I get, so I suggested let’s work together to train an alternate or maybe bump the meeting time. And in response, she said, “No, I guess I’ll just have to miss their first day back…yet again. Because of this place. Good ole , saving everyone’s ass yet again.” Then just logged off. That was over an hour ago. I’m sick of this bullshit. ---

Last night’s dinner was _supposed_ to be a cup of ramen with two eggs cracked into it. But the friggin’ cup had a _teeeeensy_ hole in it, and the damn thing peed chicken broth all over my counter. The broth is the best part! 😭 Also, last night seemed cool and non-humid enough to shut off my A/C (a.k.a. **“Coolio”** ) and leave the windows open, so I could drift off to the sound of crickets & tree frogs (and save a few bucks on my next electricity bill). Mistake! We just had a massive reorganization, so she may not be for much longer. I’ve been encouraging her to consider other options because she keeps saying, “One day I’m gonna find a new home,” to which I respond, “I’m happy to support you.” ---

Safer than soup cans or blockers of wood, look into ‘bed risers’ on Amazon-many sets include options to stack for 3”, 5” or 8” elevation. There’s a cup to secure the bed legs so no middle of the night (or, ahem, other occasions) disconcerting crashes. Even come in a choice of colors. I used sets for years to create more room under beds for storage containers. Now I need to use them to raise the head of my bed because I just found out I’m the proud mama of a hiatal hernia. ---

Monday I just started being a home aide for bf, part time this time. Today he asks me to come down early, I think he wanted sex, he brought that up. He told me to set the alarm on my phone for 5 so I wouldnt forget to clock in (i do so on his phone). I told him I could remember and he got bent out of shape(his luster pod is empty, no mood saving weed) and told me he could fire me if he wants. ---

I’m going to share this, because the last month has been hard to wrap my head around. I need to put it in words. - Water heater went out, no biggy really (I fixed it) - Heat for our house went out (not related to water heater) we use heat a lot at this altitude year round, but I got that fixed. - Wife got COVID - Drain pipe on second floor failed and destroyed lots of drywall and all of our wood flooring. Construction zone. I have the insurance company on that which is it’s own special kind of hell. But, they have been good so far. - My 92 year old mom (that lives 100 miles away) really needs my help. But ah, hah life is not done with me yet… - I discovered I have COVID yesterday. And I can’t really help set her up with a visiting nurse, cause I can’t be there. - When I tested positive for COVID, my Wife was negative by that time, but symptomatic. This morning my Wifes COVID test is positive. So she can’t help my Mom. That’s just off of the top of my head. I’m thinking there are no more shoes to drop. RIGHT! Sheese. Let’s see if I can be positive - - Luckily, our house is set up so that my Wife and I can have separate bathrooms and bedrooms. But didn’t seem to help since I have it now too. No surprise to me. - COVID did not hit us too hard. Like a moderate cold, with just about every symptom. We are all up on our vaccinations. I’m sure that helped. - Luckily this also happened in the summer. Get it all over with I suppose when we aren’t ass deep in snowballs. - I work from home, so I can manage the water destruction. Not fun though. Got the plumbing fixed the day I tested positive for COVID. So we are back to two bathrooms. - I have very flexible hours for work. But I have to dive back in to work on stuff at 6pm tonight. Database management stuff. :sigh: I had to get that all off my chest. I’m sure I’m missing a bunch. But it’s been quite a month, and I know that many have it worse. ---

That wouldve been before working hours. I dont think my boss would care. Unbeknownst to him, I got hired yesterday at a food place, part time, so I wouldnt be left without employment. Customers in bad moods, I wouldnt take it personally. Ive been pondering ending this anyway. He called my last week sayi ng he was freaking out cause his couch wasnt vacuumed. A grown man doesnt do that. His MS has really messed him up. When we got together last June, for months he acted wonderful. ---
