Why are UK rental agencies apparently playing some kind of game of [Monty Python Cheese shop](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hz1JWzyvv8A)? The ads that are up are actually all already rented, or just stupidly misleading (no, one room in a 6 bed share is not the same thing as a single flat). Emailing them just triggers automated emails saying ‘book a viewing’, which I cannot do, due to being very nearly 400 miles away, and having no time to take what would realistically be 2 days off right now. Sometimes they get creative, and the automated email sends you to some elaborate list of questions which it cheerfully assures you are ‘to help find you a good match’, because apparently the damn advert you just clicked on isn’t enough. If you complete this form, it will then simply send you to the ‘book a viewing’ form, or inform you the property already went. If you’re really lucky, it will then suggest ‘something similar’, which is usually 3 times the price and possibly in another city. If you give up on the website, find their number phone and call, if they fail to disconnect you randomly -which happens pretty often- and you actually get through to a person, they will have no knowledge of any actual rental properties, will tell you that they have no way to search on their system, and will simply refer you to back the ads and helpfully suggest that you can use the booking form to book a viewing. When you explain that you can’t book a viewing due to, you know, being 400 miles away and unwilling to pay several hundred £ just to look at one place, they will get all confused and declare that they need someone to look round. Further questioning of the last one determined that the person looking round doesn’t have to be me, the prospective tenant, I can send someone else- anyone else- but they won’t just send me the videos they have (which the last place confirmed that they do have, but they can only be sent once the place has Been Viewed) and allow me to decide from there, nope. Physical presence of… someone… is required. They cannot explain why. Maybe I can post them a teddy, and ask them to carry that round and talk to it? ---

He called and actually said come down and talk. I did. He said he Does need help, but cant have me work for him as hes attracted to me. I told him my beliefs, which are-men see a car, they dont really want it, but they want to drive it for free however long they want. No car dealer would put up with this because they know how much the car is worth. I said I dont want to be used for sex, I want marriage. He doesnt. So hes not going to have me work for him. Before I left, he tried one last time and said lets go to bed. I said no. A miracle-I finally have self esteem. So I told him to call me and keep in touch, so we can be friends, though apparently not in person. ---

Not a rant. Not even remotely pit worthy. But I don’t see any thread about it yet in Cafe Society, and it’s really not worth a thread in MPSIMS. And despite being a poster here for a couple of decades, I have no idea what the MMP is about or how it works. So I’ll just put this here: Issey Miyake is a dude? It’s not like I ever gave it any thought at all, but for some reason I thought that Issey was a woman, just based on the name. ---

I hate how, no matter what music I start listening to, Youtube always sends me back to the 1960s. For a long time now, if I start out listening to The White Stripes, the second song has almost always been either “We Gotta Get Out Of This Place” or “It’s My Life”, both by The Animals. If I start out with Devo, the second song is either “We Gotta Get Out Of This Place” or “It’s My Life”, both by The Animals. If I start out with R.E.M., the second song is “We Gotta…”. Well I think you’re picking up what I’m putting down. To be clear, I do really like those songs, and for that matter the entire mid-sixties British Invasion era, but I don’t need to hear it every time I put on YT Music. What with Google collecting all this data on me, you’d think they’d do a better job putting together a playlist on the fly. At least, they could try to stick more or less to genre and period. ---

White Stripes can’t be oldies yet, I would hope not. Even most Gen Z folks grew up as they were putting out music; Gen Z is considered to be people born 1997 and on, and the White Stripes released their first album in 1997.
