I am going to experiment and make rice krispy treats, probably with butterscotch chips. I plan on adding some pumpkin spice (home blended of course) to it as a somethin-somethin. How much should I use? ---

How much of an ingredient, that you plan to make yourself, that we have no details about, should you add to a recipe that you haven’t disclosed? I’d say three, or maybe a handful. While we’re here, I made some pasta sauce, how much salt should I add? ---

You’re just going to have to taste it as you add it. Start small. It depends on how fresh your spices are, are you grinding them by hand or are they pre-ground, how strong you like the taste, how much clove you use (they’re strong), etc. No one here knows what your home-blend is going to taste like. ---

I would do at least as much as a pie. There is a lot of sugar in the treats so it needs a strong spice mix. Bonus if you can warm them up to serve. ---

If your mix includes nutmeg, and you’re not used to cooking with it, be very, very careful with how much you add. A little nutmeg goes a long way, and it’s very easy to add enough that it completely overpowers all other flavors. But you still haven’t given us enough information to give anything more than vague answers like that. ---

I didn’t think I would need to give SD/CS a recipe for [Rice Krispy treats](https://www.ricekrispies.us/recipes/the-original-treats-recipe) As for the Pumpkin Spice blend 1T cinnamon 2t ginger 1/2t nutmeg 1/2t allspice 1/2t mace 1/2t clove I know - it’s a crazy non-standard concoction ---

That takes twice as much spice as a recipe that uses 5 oz of marshmallows and 3 cups of cereal, or half as much spice as a recipe that uses 20 oz of marshmallows and 12 cups of cereal. ---

Personally, I’d start with half a teaspoon and go from there. I’m thinking a full teaspoon (or a bit more) is probably closer to what you want, but I’d start with less to be safe. I’d also mix it into the marshmallow/butter mixture instead of at the end to ensure decent distribution. ---

Why not just google “pumpkin spice rice krispie treats”? There’s a ton of recipes out there. I didn’t look at any to see what they use for pumpkin spice but looking at a few recipes should give you a rough idea how much to use. My question is – butterscotch _and_ pumpkin spice? 🤢 ---

Leave out the mace. Cut the allspice in half. Add a tiny bit of white pepper. FWIW…I hate the crap. I hate it’s smell. I hate it’s taste.
