The Tenure of Office Act was passed specifically to impeach Andrew Johnson.
And it was almost certainly unconstitutional.
Myers v United States.
Thar decision came in 1926, a little late to help Johnson.
Smeared it on the wall.
there are no impeachable acts for the POTUS… source: SCOTUS
SCOTUS said that a president can’t be criminally liable for any official act, not that a president can’t be impeached (or removed from office). I think it was a terrible decision by the court, but it doesn’t have anything to do with impeachment.
You are right of course.
The Spokesman Review has a reporter that does some great investigative reporting. He dug into the firing of the IGs and in partiular, the one over the VA. The massive new VA electronic medical record system has been a complete shit-show boondoggle. The Spokane VA hospital was the guinea pig and it didn’t go well. IG Missal sounded the alarm and he is now fired. BTW, the new EMR system, costing $10B was awarded by Trump, with no bidding, to his buddy and donor Larry Ellison. Coincidence? Nope.
Also, the article talks about the two cabinet level IGs that weren’t fired. One was mean to Comey so Trump likes him. The other is corrupt (opposite of what IGs are supposed to be) so I’m guessing that saved his job.
Does he realize he was president between Obama and Biden? What did he do during that time to fix Obama’s wrongs?
What I found was that the contract was awarded to Cerner in 2018, which was acquired by Oracle in 2022. So maybe not as bad as it sounds.
Didn’t you listen to him during the press conference about the plane crash? Obama made everything terrible, but Trump fixed it! But then that nasty Biden un-fixed it, but Trump fixed it again!
I think the worst part is that the OP had the opportunity to use the excellent “inspectors general” but missed it.
Nope. I’m tired of 19th century rules and am writing in 21st century English.
Pedants be damned.
Fair enough. Anyway, I’m off to Burger King to get a couple of Whoppers Junior – do you want one? I’ll be in one of my Minis Cooper.
Oops - I did misread that portion. Not quite as bad, but still bad. This new administration is racing to be worse than v1 in record time.
Band name!
Or the Big Bang Theory cast forms a group without Sheldon: Minus Cooper!
