It’s the Daisyverse. Just go with it. 😃

Good episode, though I missed the aunts. There was a subtle joke near the beginning of the episode which I just barely caught. I think it was Emerson’s mom speaking and she was looking at a clue or a body, and she said something along the lines of, “He was a well-dressed shopaholic…queer.” 🙂

It’s funny that I like this show so much when Chuck and Ned both annoy me. I was glad Ned didn’t let her move back in.

Incidentally, it’s not _necessarily_ a Daisyverse thing that Emerson’s mother is white. Look at Barack Obama, for only one example in the real world.

This is the second (or third?) time that a CEO of a company has turned out to be a murderer. Let’s mix that up a bit, shall we?

I get the feeling Ned and Chuck…manage. Ned told Emerson last week they had “devices” and a “mask” and Emerson told him basically to shut up, TMI.

I love Emerson’s mom. Love love love her. I want to see her and the Aunties sit down and have pie together.

I wonder how many scene takes they have to do because Chuck and Ned accidentally bump knees or something. When they were sitting on the floor of the Pie Hole kitchen I was cringing…“careful, careful…”

I keep trying to read the sign of the building that the Pie Hole is housed in…is it Liberty or Imperial?

I love this show. I know it’s fantasy, and I need to just roll with it. But I cannot figure out why Chuck not only stays around Ned, but why she doesn’t cover herself in saran wrap. If she accidentally brushes up against Ned, she’s dead. There’s living on the edge with your borrowed time, and there’s playing with matches in a gunpowder factory. Chuck is doing the second.

It’s Liberty. The sign is shaped like the arm and torch of the Statue of Liberty. Possibly just the torch, actually.

Another very enjoyable episode, and count me as another fan of Calista Cod. She had some great lines:

Emerson: Well, I’ll be dental-dammed!
Calista: With a girl like that, you’d have to be.

To Ned: You wanna take it outside?

I hope the aunts are back next week.

Hee. I totally missed that! I love that the show, on first glance, appears to be kind of a sweet and innocent fairytale, but if you pay attention, you quickly discover it has all sorts of not-nearly-so-sweet-and-innocent surprises.

I enjoyed Calista a great deal. The relationship between her and her son was fun to watch, and I really hope we’ll see her again.

What I’m really, really hoping is that ABC will order more episodes. Why is it they keep making dreck like _According to Jim_, _America’s Funniest Home Videos_, and _Wife Swap_, but they get rid of gems like _Pushing Daisies_? Stupid ABC.

Shouldn’t it be “Stupid people for not watching it”?

Probably, but not necessarily. According to [this link](http://tvbythenumbers.com/category/ratings/top-shows-by-network/abc-tv-ratings) from [tvbythenumbers.com](http://tvbythenumbers.com), _Pushing Daisies_, while not performing well, appears to be beating _Wife Swap_ each week. It is getting beat by _AFHV_, but _According to Jim_ doesn’t appear at all, so I’m going to assume (for my own happiness), that _PD_ is beating _Jim_, too.

I assume _Wife Swap_ is cheaper to make than _PD_, which may be why it’s continuing, but more people are watching the latter.

Because ABC is first and foremost a corporation and right now, Pushing Daisies is losing to the CBS comedies_and_ Knight Rider . (Last night, only 5.67 million watched PD (which is down from the week before) while 7.23 million watched the talking car and 8 million watched The New Adventures of Old Christine.).

Yeah, it’s a brilliant, funny, touching, creative show - but no one is watching it and fewer and fewer people tune in every week. Continuing to put it on the air is a bad financial decision. But blame your fellow Americans, not the corporation.

How much is ABC spending on promotion, though? I rarely see PD promos. They’re just not pushing _Pushing_! It’s typical fucked-up network business-before-good-tv crap…it’s too weird for the suits to like so it gets back-closeted and left to starve to death.

Oh, and my fellow Americans are schlock-watching morons, too.

Ok, my wife and I watched this for the first time last night, and kind of liked it. I’ve read the wikipedia and imdb entries on it, but I have a few questions on the Piemaker’s abilities. If you answer them, we may continue to watch in the future 😉

1. It says if he ever touches Chuck again, she’ll die (again). Did someone/something else die 60 seconds after he revived her? If so, why will a second touch still kill her? Aren’t the books balanced now?

2. Last night, everyone he touched seemed fairly cheerful and eager to answer his questions - does anyone ever start screaming/crying “Oh god, I’m dead, what happened, I want to see my children again,” etc, instead of answering his questions?

3. Can he touch living (never dead) people without problems?

4. Any other oddities we should know about?

Man, it sure is hard to be pouty and indignant around here. Everyone keeps coming at me with sensible logic and pesky facts. Quit getting your maturity all over my temper tantrum. (If I used smilies, this would be where I’d put one.)

In other words, I know you’re right. I just get frustrated when I show I like disappears (see:Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, Arrested Development, NewsRadio). And I do agree with **jayjay** about the lack of advertising. It may not be entirely responsible, but it’s not helping.

On a more episode-related note: Does Pigby live in the apartment with Chuck and Olive? Can pigs be house-trained?

_P.S. I have to blame my fellow Canadians._

1. Yes, someone else died in her place. Luckily, he was a jerk. The second touch killing you forever is just the way it is, whether the books are balanced or not.

2. Their reactions vary, but they mostly seem to understand they’re dead.

3. Yes. If you haven’t been dead yet, you’re fine.

4. In terms of Ned’s power, I don’t think so. It’s pretty straight forward. If you’re dead, one touch brings you back to life. A second touch kills you forever. If not within 60 seconds, something of commensurate value has to die, but he still can’t ever touch you a second time.

My question: how old is Digby? Is he immortal now, as long as Ned doesn’t touch him?

1. The crooked funeral director who was stealing the valuables off of his corpses died in her place. And yes, if he touches her he will still kill her again. That’s just the way the power works. In the premiere, “Pie-lette”, in a flashback, his mother dies of a stroke. He brings her back. In 60 seconds, Chuck’s father (the next-door neighbor) dies. That night, his mother kisses his forehead while tucking him into bed and ZAP! She’s dead again. Them’s the breaks.

2. The dead are mostly always pretty level-headed about their fate. I think we’ve had at most 2 of them who “woke up” screaming.

3. Yes.

4. Lots of them, but it’s all part of the charm of the setting.

That’s still a mystery. Digby would be easily in his late 20s by now, which is insanely long-lived for a dog. But there’s really been no confirmation of immortality as far as we’ve seen by anyone’s dialogue.

Yes, the funeral home director took her place. A second touch still will kill her though. I’m not sure why, but in Season 1 when Ned is first figuring out his “gift” the narration makes a point of mentioning that there was no manual or warranty to go with it. If you even slightly enjoyed last night’s episode, go out and get Season 1 on DVD ASAP. It’s only 9 episodes (due to the strike) and it will make things much clearer as to how their world works.

There are varying reactions, but I can’t recall any being completely upset.

Yep. But he isn’t a very touchy-feely guy even with the non-dead.

Olive’s cleavage can end world hunger and bring about peace in the Middle East. The haven’t stated that on the show as of yet, but I have a hunch…

I think what really hurts for me as far as the danger the show is in is that this is my first “live” really-good-quirky-show-endangerment. Every other one I’ve come to love (Arrested Development, Wonderfalls, etc) I never saw or was into when they were first-run. There was a long period of time (we’re talking almost a decade) when I wasn’t watching network or cable TV at all (mostly PBS for Britcoms).

This is my first incident of a possibly dead-on-its-feet show that I’m watching and loving NOW. And it really hurts to think about it.
