Polished concrete reminds me of the latest trend in grocery store flooring.
I put in Pergo when I bought my home. Ten years later it isn’t looking very good. It’s worth thinking out re-sale value and all that. Wood is more expensive, but will be a better return. Vinyl has a plastic look that isn’t quite the same.
What he said. We redid our house top to bottom a few years ago. We ripped the carpet out of the common areas and repaired and refinished the very nice hardwood flooring there. We extended the hardwood flooring in the hall through the part that got added when the former owners did an addition, and which was just carpet over a slab before. Looks much better. We had a great contractor. The guy who did the work, which was not easy, has won flooring awards.
Carpet is good for bedrooms. We put in new tile in the kitchen. But wood is the best.
Now I’m not an expert on selecting it, since we just revealed what was there.
