Here’s a puzzling thing:

Why do people park across the front of our driveway when they are coming in to drop a kid off or something? They always take longer than they think they will, and this is invariably at the time I am coming home, so I park on the street.

That makes no sense whatsoever!

If you want to use the driveway, then use it. If you don’t, then move your car six feet forward so we can get in and out. But multiple people have done this–they pull up to the curb, blocking our driveway entrance, and then hop out and come to our front door.

The microwave thing and the parking thing both seem to be part of the “There Is No One Else Here But Me\*” Syndrome.

> Our microwave has a feature where if you just push one of the numbers from 1 to 6 you get that many minutes on the timer and it starts running automatically.

Ours does that, too, but pushing start then adds 30 seconds to it.

I always set the microwave for longer than I think it will take to nuke a bag of popcorn, then stop it when the popcorn is ready. I _usually_ remember to clear the remaining time…

My wife leaves wet dish towels on the counter. There’s a towel rack on the wall a few inches away. Where it will dry without getting musty.

Is it that much trouble to hang a wet towel to dry?

> Which, I can understand in a lot of situations - if you don’t want to bother sleeping/sick people in the house with the finish signal, for instance. But both of these men have the same ‘WTF?’ addition to this - they will not reset the timer after they’re finished, leaving it to the next person who wants to use the microwave to do.
>
> Which is annoying enough, in general, but more than once I’ve spent several seconds trying to figure out why the microwave wasn’t letting me input anything, because enough time had been left on, I’d reasonably thought it was the clock displaying, not the timer. (That is to say, frex, it was set for 5 minutes, used for one or two, then I tried to use it mid-afternoon.)

If they’re considerate enough to not allow the oven to beep when done, they probably don’t want it to beep when they hit the reset button.

I live alone, but always check the time on the oven first to be sure there’s no time left. I also always hit the reset button first in case the I mistake the time for time remaining.

I love watching people blow through stop signs without slowing down, but they use a turn signal. Safety first when breaking the law!

> I guess I’m puzzled why you don’t just leave a note on the gate: “Por favor, no cortar el patio hoy.” That’s what Google translate give me when I type in “Please do not mow the backyard today.”

:smack: “_Por favor, no cortar la hierba del patio hoy_” o “_por favor, no segar el patio hoy_”.

Google apparently thinks the handkerchief-sized lawn can be cut in half. Itself, not the stuff growing on it. It’s understandable but also a case of “the jokes write themselves”.

Yesterday I got a smile from the baker when I asked for “one grey round, cut, that’s all.” Saved her two questions 😃 She’s already got me trained!
