Strangely enough, there is no clear evidence that Elizabeth herself ever worked in the theatre.

You mean besides the grafitti on the ancient popcorn stand ( last remain ing piece of the Globe Theatre) that reads–

Elizabeth obviously worked Concessions, before becoming an Usherette, then Queen.

John Webster was beginning his rise to prominence as Elizabeth’s reign came to an end. Amongst other plays, he wrote _The Duchess of Malfi_.

Nell Gwynn was quite disappointed when things didn’t fall out _exactly_ this way. 😉
