# Qadgop, This One's For You!

Since **dorkus** has been warping our minds with [this thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=141729), I figure it’s about time I unleashed something on **Qadgop The Mercotan**. I’m _not_ responsible for this. It’s from one of our lurkers who has (wisely) chosen to remain anonymous.

Yes, it’s mundane, it’s pointless, but both of us have a lot of respect for you **Qadgop**. This anonymous lurker also, BTW got your handle and location.

I’m…speechless?

Prison anecdote, fresh from today:

I"ve got a new prisoner, detoxing from alcohol and heroin. He’s not a happy camper, but he’s past the dangerous part of the alcohol withdrawal. He’s off his librium now for 3 days, and he’s really really not happy about that! He complains that during his transfer from one unit to the next, he was not given one of the librium doses he was supposed to have, so he only got two that day. Net result, one less dose, which made no difference at all to his successful withdrawal.

I informed him that I had reviewed the situation, and his health was not threatened by the fact that he missed one dose. His reply: “Do I get that dose now?” with most eager look on his face.

Classic junkie response. In his mind he was entitled, that dose was _his_, so he should get it, regardless of medical necessity. I understand it fully, I even sympathize (hell, empathize), but I had all I could do to keep from laughing in his face.
