# QBs throwing ball away

I think far more offensive penalties should come with loss of down.

[According to this website](http://www.nflpenalties.com/), there have been 15 intentional grounding penalties called this year. There have been 17 roughing the passer calls this year.
Considering that I think refs are pretty quick to call roughing the passer, I don’t agree that intentional grounding calls are as rare as you portray them to be.

Compared to the number of times they probably \*could \*be called for IG? I’d say that number is pretty low. Look how often a QB tosses the ball out of bounds away from anybody but the cheerleaders and consider that is probably IG by the strict rules.

Not if the QB is out of the pocket by then, which is the most common time you see the really uncatchable throws.

Remember that throwing an incomplete pass is a negative consequence already.
