Eh, we have plenty of meaningless partisan sniping on the board. If **Qin** is going to participate, at least doing so with references to semi-obscure historical figures makes it more interesting. “Liberals are racist” == stupid and boring “Liberals are like Hugo Black” == still stupid, but hey, if you look the name up on wikipedia at least you learned something. ---

I think Dopers have a soft spot for this kid. Bright, socially awkward, and the impending train wreck in a couple of years when he begins to develop his own genuine opinions. I have sympathy for his circumstances. He has a difficult time understanding people and social norms, tracked into special ed, and seems to be raised in a sidestream environment where he can’t observe normalcy. The Dope may be his foothold in reality. I think he gets his parents approval, in general, and to participate on the SDMB, by posting his anachronistic conservative dogma. ---

I think the conservative part is pretty far down on the totem pole of why he’s annoying. The Christian part is probably higher, at least for me. He’s so smug and convinced of his own intellectual prowess, and yet he can’t overcome the most basic of stepping stones on the way to a sharp mind - religion. ---

I for one heartily approve of “conservatives” having enough historical basis to make pre-Gingrich references. The main right wing attitude in the media pretty much has Newt as a Founding Father and Reagan as a half-forgotten figure of its Genesis myth. I just didn’t realize that Chomsky was that important to “the Revolution.” He reminds me of my college professors. ---

Regardless of the reason, he gets smug based on his supposed intellect and then turns around and proves he lacks the most basic of critical thinking tools. I don’t pay much attention to him as a poster, but when I have, I’ve found his posts to be sorely lacking in factual content. Not unlike a lot of posters here. I’m not even sure he’s the worst offender on the right, with respect to that, but there are quite a few posters here that I don’t pay much attention to. ---
