# Quayludes

What ever happened to quayludes? I was a child in the 80s and I know quayludes are downers, but that is all I know about it.

Why did they fall out of favor?

I know the rules of the board and I hope this question isn’t a violation.

Is it completely impossible for this to be a General Question, within the framework of the rules?

Somebody, somewhere, has figures on drug use over the last few decades, so a cite is possible.

Somebody, somewhere, has ideas about how this relates to quaylude (sp?) usage.

This guy wants to know.

Shall we let him remain ignorant?

I didn’t know it was a prescription drug. I was wondering why the use was rampant in the 70s and now, nothing.

Too many people got into trouble with quaaludes. Mixing it with booze was a recipe for disaster. Idiots did it anyway, and their friends all got to see how bad ludes were.

Well, by simply spelling the word Quaalude correctly and typing the correct spelling into Google, you can get a solid overview of its history both medicinally and illicitly in about 10 minutes. Distribution of methaqualone in the United States was halted in 1984.
