Is the red head singer supposed to be someone in particular in the Tex Avery cartoons Red Hot Riding Hood and Little Rural Riding Hood? The character seems to come up often.

Not a particular person. The character of Red was extremely popular, so Avery continued to use her.

Not only was she popular (particularly with the boys overseas—there was a war on), but Tex could re-use the animation of her dancing and save money on other films.

Preston Blair reportedly drew the character _without rotoscoping_. They were very proud of that. Plus she was the sexiest cartoon female until Jessica Rabbit came along. Can’t blame them for repeating her.
