> **Are you suggesting there are acids in the carbonation?**

She might not, but I will.

“Carbonation” just means dissolving carbon dioxide in the water. A small amount of that carbon dioxide will form carbonic acid.

H[sub]2[/sub]O + CO[sub]2[/sub] → H[sub]2[/sub]CO[sub]3[/sub]

The effect of the carbonic acid is small compared to the citric and phosphoric acids.
