In the Wii game _Punch Out_, what does it mean when an opponent flashes red briefly before attacking? Just “look out, he’s going to attack!”? Or is there some other significance?

It’s been awhile since I played it, but, IIRC, if you punch your opponent when or just after he turns red, you earn a star.
