I don’t know if this is still the case, but years ago I had eight or nine sock puppets opened on a board and it tended to cause grief with the client I was using. I complained but the admins were un-sympathetic, they said I was the only one trying to do that so they had no motivation to fix the bleeding issues.

Also, I believe Siam Sam was allowed to create a second account in order to investigate and report back problems he was encountering with the Straight Dope message boards, but this was a unique circumstance and he had obtained prior permission to do so.
Off the main point, but forum and messageboard are both correct. The individual sections: ATMB,Comments on Cecil’s columns, GQ, GD, etc. are sub-forums, as indicated in the heading on the main page.
If you have bleeding issues, I’d suggest complaining to a doctor.
If I’m not allowed socks, do the rest of my clothes have to go as well? I might scare somebody!

That is true. It was for a limited time to see if the problems still occurred for me under a different account.
Also, as I’ve reported before, I first joined using my real name as my user name but soon decided maybe that was not a good idea after all and then did the Siam Sam account. Dunno what tipped them off, but after a while I was denied access to the Board. Banned. When I e-mailed Admin to ask why, I was told they’d found my earlier account. After explaining the situation, they let me back in, changing my original posts to the Siam Sam name. So some multiple accounts do happen for innocent reasons and are dealt with reasonably.
So the bottom line is: Don’t wear socks and sandals, especially at the beach.
I am NOT a sock of Siam Sam. Though I do think he’s an unrecognized genius, and I too am obsessed with Japanese "wee-wee’ festivals and “kinky” universities. And share his love of bad women and bad anime. And I do thoroughly agree with his latest rant… and when he put Bricker to shame, I was the only one to back him up.
And, sure, I moved from Hawaii to Siam when he did (taking his pet elephants along), but I have not at any time met, been at the same party with, or taken a selfie of Siam Sam.
On the other hand, no one has ever seen us in a room at the same time.

They’re called alts, not socks, and banning people for using one is a dumb rule. Banning people for using them for nefarious purposes (to argue with and beat oneself in an argument, or to look like you have more support) is fair, for just not wanting to have every dumb thing you might want to say go on your “permanent file” isn’t.
