I can tell you that at both English-language newspapers in Thailand, the guidelines state use “UK” only in headlines unless direct quoting. Otherwise use Britain in text. Unless you really are talking about just England. Are you saying there are no tarts in, say, Scotland or Wales? Then what _are_ their bakeries like? ---
