Question for non-Americans - libraries?

Steken, I’m going home next week so I’ll ask around several libraries and report back. I know they have DVDs and CDs but don’t know about games.

FWIW in libraries here in Germany (at least the central ones of larger towns) games of both kinds look to be available.

In Stuttgart we have a department of the Stadtbibliothek that may not be too common - the Graphothek where you can lend out art to hang on your living room wall. 2500 items available; lending period 8 weeks, costs an insurance charge of 2.50€. Short clip (German language)

Some public libraries in the United States have stocked board games for decades depending on the demand for it by their patrons. University libraries will often have a variety of educational games for education major planning on becoming class room teachers to use. I haven’t read or heard much about computer games other than ones available online through the library computers; however, if there is enough interest in checking out computer games at a library chances are that library will find a way to make it happen eventually.

Angola has national library in Luanda that has ~40,000 books that can be checked out at no charged. There is also a well stocked periodicals area with technical and non-technical offerings. For people in other provinces there are branches that will mail books and other materials.
