# Question regarding Edward Gibbon's "Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire"

Hi  
I’m looking for an authoritative annotated edition of " Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire". I’m also looking for an authoritative biography of Gibbon that will give me a detailed background of his preparation for writing “Decline and Fall”. I know he spend some time in Rome prior to writing his book.  
I look forward to your feedback.
