I don’t get it. I don’t remember who any of these people are. Who is the Indian girl again? And who is Dave? For that matter, how do we know Steve? (I get that the rest of them are not necessarily real.) And is it supposed to be him who’s getting beaten up, or is that someone else? I can’t recall Dave or the girl ATM, but Steve has been Marten’s friend for years. He just hasn’t been in the strip for a long, long time. I think the girl was his girlfriend, Meena, but don’t quote me on that, I’d have to dig through the archives to be sure and I can’t do that at work. ETA: Oh, and, yes, that is Steve getting beaten up. The alt text implies that the sequence may be real, or it may be an alcohol-induced fantasy. ---

Looks to me he lost his girl, stayed drunk for some time, and would (almost) rather make up some crap than talk about his real life. And, since we’re on it, I don’t know who the person is that linked to this inane soap opera, but damn you, I’m hooked on this stuff. It’s like low-grade crack that comes in meager doses. ---

Yeah, Meena is the pathologist who when last seen was still living with her ex, Dave. It’s been a while for her and for Steve, as well.
