As an experiment, I just turned to my nine year old, and said “I’m crushing your head.” She’s never heard the joke before. With utter aplomb she replied, “No, you’re crushing _your own_ head.” then she proceeded to crush my glasses and laugh like a loon. My vote’s normal (and internationally appreciated.)
