You know, I knew about neutral-current scattering once, long ago, but apparently I had forgotten about it. Thanks for the correction.

Which is unfortunately not an experiment which can easily be repeated with better instruments. Though if we had data from just one more supernova, even data of only the same quality, it’d do a lot to improve the results.

And measurements of the expected value of the electron neutrino mass are very closely related to those constraining the sum of all three masses, given the known mass splittings (which are much smaller than the upper bounds).
